If you know me, then you know I've always loved crafting. It's absolutely something I want to do with my kids so for Valentine's Day, Hazel and I did our own little craft. And the best part is that it's 2-in-1!
We bought this cute wooden heart at Michaels.
Hazel painted one side on her own -- using her washable paints, of course! She loved picking which colors she would use next and switching brushes.
On the opposite side of the heart, we decoupaged tissue paper. We had 3 different sheets - red, pink with gold hearts, and white with gold polka dots. Together we ripped the tissue paper up in to tiny pieces and used Mod Podge and sponge brushes to tack it onto the heart. You could really get creative here! I could imagine cutting the tissue paper into little hearts and decoupaging that on could be really cute. I considered adding XOXO onto it after it dried but instead added a little crochet trim.
This was a fun project-- 2 separate fun and sensory activities. And now Hazel has a sweet little decoration for her bookshelf!
